Work Experience

April 16 onwards Director and sole owner of Veterinary Investigation Services Ltd. Post mortems on farm animals and horses, advisory farm visits and training (vets and farmers). Consultancy on ruminant health and welfare.

Feb14-  April 16 Veterinary Advisor Ruminants at MSD Animal Health, Walton Manor, Milton Keynes, BUCKS. Full Time. Part of the sales team and role includes visiting veterinary practices, technical support for account managers, being involved in projects, pharmaco-vigilance and CPD to vets and farmers.

Sept 03- Feb 14     Veterinary Investigation Officer at the Veterinary Laboratories Agency (now APHA), Luddington, Stratford upon Avon, WARKS- Full time. I was the senior veterinary surgeon at AHVLA Luddington. My work included gross pathology, consultancy for veterinary surgeons in practice and farmers, DEFRA and former Animal Health, advisory farm visits (mostly second opinion work and mastitis consultancy) and support for Salmonella and zoonosis projects.  I organised the local work load. I was a member of the AHVLA/SAC Cattle Expert Group and I contributed to the quarterly cattle report. I acted as an expert witness in many welfare court cases (farm animals). I was project leader for the casualty cows TB reactor and the animal welfare projects. I sat on stakeholder groups e.g. green bedding. I spoke regularly at veterinary and farmer events on farm animal health and welfare related topics.

1997-2003 Drove Veterinary Hospital, 252 Croft Rd, Swindon, WILTS- Full time. Assistant in large mixed practice, 90% farm animal work such as routine fertility visits, advisory mastitis visits, heath planning on dairy, beef, pig and sheep farms, export certification, Artificial Insemination (AI) and LVI work.

1994-1997 Elms Veterinary Surgery, 30 Gloucester rd, Faringdon, OXON- Full time. Partner in a mixed practice; mostly large animal work (farm and equine), including much export certification (calves and cows) and routine fertility visits. 

1989-1994 Baxter and Davies, Downington, Lechlade, GLOS- Full time   Assistant Veterinary Surgeon in a truly mixed country practice. 

1989 (spent some time in Brazil, including some on a large arable/livestock farm)

1988-1989 Animal Breeding Co. Ltd, Hope under Dinmore, Hereford. Company Veterinary Surgeon – Full time; main duties were Embryo Transfer and AI.

Guda is a member of the British Cattle Veterinary Association and Sheep Veterinary Society; was secretary of the National Mastitis Group for 7 years; was chairman of the Wiltshire Veterinary Club for three years; regularly reviews papers for the Veterinary Record and The Veterinary Journal on topics relating to mastitis, botulism and TB; in partnership with her husband running a commercial sheep farm - "We have kept pigs and beef cattle in the past. I am involved in the day to day work and management of the farm including the financial side. We have diversified into establishing areas of woodland, camping and allotments for the village."; has lectured for several years at Hartpury College (MSc course) on infectious diseases in farm animals and various other topics; is fluent in Dutch, English and speaks some Italian and can read German
